Today I was babysitting my 8 yr. old cousion, and as we were playing with my AG dolls, she un-did my Josefina's perfect, untouched braid. I didn't say anything, bu I was pretty mad inside. I tried to get it the way it looked before, but of course couldint. Anyways, im going to the AG store in Septemeber, and was wondering if the Doll Salon did single, long braids like Josefina has? And if so, how well do they do it? And now the lower part of Josefina's hair feels kind of crispy; do they take care of that, too?

IMO the hair salon is a rip off. They only have one hair style I can't do myself.
To fix Josefina's braid spritz with water, if her hair doesn't need brushing it should be easy to fix but if you need to brush start from the bottom and work up.
Divide into three sections and braid loosely.
If her ends are too dry soak in Downey fabric softner for a little while and then rinse. Once her hair is dry, spritz with water and braid.
Most of the dolls could do with a spritzing once a week to keep it nice.....Her hair will never be back to "Perfect" so try doing her hair like in the feast day outfit. Once the hair is out you can try all the newer things!

Hmm maybe I need my own Josefina to practice on [img]wink.gif[/img] The ends of travelling Josefina's hair were dry but I didn't want to try to fix it so I left that for her mom when she gets back home. I'm taking Molly with me to New York next summer, and I'm taking her to the doll salon to get her hair in their original braids for awhile. In the 10 years I've had her, I have never manged to get them to come out like that.
I was just going to post that I really need help. One of Molly's braids got stuck on the velcro of her Miss Victory outfit when I was dressing her for the Olympics!!!!!!!!!!!! It pulled a bunch of hairs out of her braid and now she looks unkept.
I ADMIT THAT I AM A COLLECTOR NOT A CHILD. I want her to be perfect again but I know that if I undo that braid and just try to get those hairs back into the braid it will not look the same. I did not have any daughers so I am really BAD with doing anything to their hair. That is why I got Molly as I did not want to ruin her hair.
I called the AGP hair salon and was told that is was $20 to rebraid her hair. Now that is just silly and my better judgment (which is always wrong) will not let me do that. How can they charge $20 to rebraid a dolls hair that has never been unbraided? They said that is what their fee was and of course, I just got mad.
I just found out, thanks to people on this board, that I get to go to the AGP store in New York at the end of September but I am 60 years old and frankly taking this doll on the train along with my husband just does not sound like a fun thing to do. I can always use the "it is not my doll" excuse but really, I am sure they will know. I also refuse to pay $20 to have half of a braid re-braided for me.........

P.S. I would have killed the cousin for unbraiding your doll's hair. That is a very personal thing and people should not do that without asking the owner!!!!!!!!!

I would just take the hair out of the braids, Susan, and then brush each part and then rebraid. My biggest problem is getting the three sets even so they go back into the braids and end the same. Also Watch which strand sets go where in the beginning of the braid when you take it out so you can set it right back to where it was. You can always trim the ends to make it straight and even again. That is all they do at AGP anyhow.
